WHY DO YOU USE CERTIFIED ORGANIC INGREDIENTS ?

We use certified organic and organic produce because:

Certified organic produce has more nutrition and less toxins compared to conventional farming, meaning it's better for you, the animals and the planet. Pesticides are sprayed on conventional Australian food to kill insects and bugs.

According to scientists, "pesticides regularly detected on Australian Food have been linked to possible problems with human endocrine function (glands), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), learning and behavioural problems, lower IQ and possible increases in Lymphoblastic Leukemia in children. Longer term exposure to pesticides have also been linked with development of Parkinsons Disease. Of particular concern is the possible impact of pesticides on the development of the human foetus, cancer, hypothyroidism and autism.

Of the 125 types of pesticides detected on Australian fruit and vegetable surveyed, 45% are suspected endocrine (glands) disruptors, with 62% of all detections related to suspected endocrine disrupting pesticides. A number of health issues can be related to endocrine disruption. In 2009, The American Medical Association and The Endocrine Society both called for new policies to decrease public exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals. Such calls have not occurred in Australia".

Certified organic produce is scientifically proven to have more nutrition and less chemical toxins whereas commercial farming uses sprays that kill microbes and insects in an attempt to harvest larger crops. Certified organic/bio dynamic produce is farmed in accordance with nature and the flavour is heaps better. It's a triple threat, win-win-win.

Good Food. Good for People. Good for the Planet.

ARE THE WEEKLY PACKAGES SET OR CAN I CUSTOMISE THEM?

You have the option to do both. The weekly packages designed by Ante and Chris are set. Alternatively you can pick and choose individual meals and salads to create your own customised meal plan.

The reason behind our set package is that Ante has based it on a "rotational diet". So you are not eating from the same species group everyday which can cause health issues and are getting more a variety of produce which is better for your health.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WILD, CERTIFIED ORGANIC, ORGANIC, BIODYNAMIC AND COMMERCIAL PRODUCE?

ARE ALL THE INGREDIENTS CERTIFIED ORGANIC ?

All the ingredients are certified organic, farmed organically and/or wild caught.

WHERE DO THE INGREDIENTS COME FROM ?

We really want to support local farmers so the majority of the produce comes from Canberra and the surrounding local region. Again better for the planet because there are less food miles (an a unit of measurement of the fuel used to transport it).

HOW ARE THE SALADS/MEALS PREPARED ?

Salads/meals are prepared in a fully commercial kitchen by our Youtube celebrity chef Christopher Toth, in conjuction with education aspiring young chefs in the capital region.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF THE SALAD  AND MEALS?

Salad shelf life =  4 – 5 days refrigerated <5 degrees Celsius.

Meat  & seafood shelf life = To be consumed within 5 days, refrigerated <5 degrees Celsius.

Dessert shelf life = To be consumed within 5 days, refrigerated <5 degrees Celsius.

If you are unsure of any food storage requirements please click here.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO REHEAT MY MEAL?

To reheat meals, see packaging on each meal. Place vacuumed sealed meal in a  pot of simmering water for roughly 20 mins or until the desired temperature is reached. Alternatively remove vacuumed seal packaging and place in the oven at 180-200 degrees Celsius for 20mins.

All health and safety reasons, all food must be reheated to a core temperature of 70 degrees Celsius before consumption. For more info, click here.

WHY ARE WE ANTI MICROWAVES?

As a Holistic Coach, Ante is informed on the negative health impacts of using a microwave and strongly recommends people DO NOT use a microwave to reheat food.

Why?

The science shows it destabilises the molecules and loses nutrients. To say it another way, we have sourced the best nutritional filled produce for you and you're going to lose that nutrition using a microwave! Not a good idea. Chris has come up with a genius solution. To reheat meals, place the meal including the food safe packaging (vac-sealed) it comes in a pot of simmering water. This is called sous vide cooking. It's healthier than a microwave and keeps the flavour and moisture = delicioussss!

Many of the meals we cook are sous vide cooked and vac-sealed. Reheating in simmering water helps preserve the nutrients, increases the flavour and is better for your health.

IF I FREEZE MY MEAL, WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DEFROST IT?

Because of the vac-seal packaging the meals will stay fresh for up to 5 - 7 days. However if you need to freeze them, the best way to defrost them is to remove them out of the freezer the night before and let them defrost gradually in the fridge. Then reheat using the method above. Not a microwave!
